The Cleveland Cavaliers announced that Max Strus will be sidelined for three to four months following a successful surgery on his left foot performed on Tuesday.
The Cavaliers announced that Max Strus sustained a Jones fracture, a break in the bone connecting the small toe to the foot, during recent off-season training. After undergoing surgery in Indianapolis, Strus is expected to return to basketball activities within three to four months.
The Cavaliers will kick off the 2025-26 NBA season on October 22 in New York. Last season, Strus averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists over 50 games, starting in 37 of them, as the Cavs finished with a 64-18 record, the best in the Eastern Conference. Last season, Strus posted career playoff averages of 11.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists, as Cleveland was knocked out in the second round by the Indiana Pacers.

The 29-year-old undrafted player, who began his NBA career with Chicago in 2019-20 and then spent three seasons with Miami, signed a four-year, $63 million contract with the Cavaliers in 2023. He was sidelined for the first six weeks of last season due to a right ankle sprain.
